Background
Proteins control almost every biochemical reaction in the body. Proteins are made up of amino acids; which are commonly referred to as the building blocks of life. When water and fat are removed from the human body, amino acids make up 75% of what remains.
Nearly all the 40,000 distinct proteins found in the human body are made from only 22 amino acids. These amino acids are the Protogenic Amino Acids.
Most of the protein in the body resides in the skeletal muscles. Only .1% of all protein is found as free amino acids. Plasma amino acids represent what is available to the body at the current time. A deficiency in one of the protogenic amino acids can limit the body's ability to make an optimal amount of neurotransmitters in the brain. This deficiency can lead to depression, food and substance abuse and poor health in general.
